**REPOST** debut ep from detektivbyran (new song added today)(plus a new sort-of official video from Hello Safride)

(Editor’s Note: I originally posted about these guys in April, this follow-up post came out in September. Since then accolades have been dribbling in, and I’m still convinced this is some of the best music coming out of Sweden and I wish these guys luck in the new year.)

It’s pretty much common knowledge at this point among certain swedish music cognosanti and tastemakers (i.e. me) that detektivbyran is one of the best bands in Sweden. Their blend of pump organs, vibes, odd percussion and other assorted circus-y intrumentation along with their circular and near waltz-like compositions has made them an underground press darling. And I aim to continue to heap on the accolades.

I really don’t hesitate for a second in calling this trio, that now lives in Gothenberg, musical geniuses. A quick perusal of the photos (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8) from their most recent recording session is proof enough as you can see the band trying to get every last sound from a myriad of analog and digital equipment. This is the new sound of Sweden, look out Dungen. Their new ep, Hemvagen, was released last week and is only available from their site here (click on shop). The packaging looks gorgeous and as you can tell from the song below the music within is stunning.
