Homeland is Mikael Carlsson, a former member of David And The Citizens. His solo project is based in the world of computers and digital recordings but strives to have an organic heart. These demos of new material were posted to the Famous For 15 MB site that’s is a coproduction of AA/Nosordo.

Strange Diversion

Monday, February 5th, 2007

I’ve written about Tower of Foil before and always ragged on them about their name but by now I’m used to it. So let’s focus on the songs from their new Highland Lullabies ep. “Stange Diversion” has all the elments of the new retro-disco pop sound so prominent in the Swedish scene today, like some odd combination of Squeeze and Jackson 5.

Winter Took His Life

Friday, February 2nd, 2007

I’ve got a number of bands that I’d like to write about saved in various bookmarked folders, skattered about on my desk or hidden among hundreds of spam emails. Winter Took His Life (homepage) is one such project. What got me off my ass to post something is that WTHL is coming to the Midwest this spring. Susanna, the brains and the brawn behind WTHL, is booking dates in the midwest for the middle of March. Hopefully she’ll bring her entourage within striking distance of Chicago.

“Godforsaken, lost and out of luck” the first line of “Oh”. Fortunately it can only get better from there. Check out her MySpace page for upcoming US tour dates.

Live mp3 from Kristoffer Rangnstam

Thursday, February 1st, 2007

Kristoffer Rangnstam recently entered the studio’s of the PRI radio show Fair Game. He recorded a bunch of songs and I’m sure talked about the long cold dark winter nights of his homeland. They’re giving away one song as an mp3, the song “Man Overboard”.
