This is a strange concept. An established Swedish act recording a covers album of songs from an unknown indiepop band. Perhaps these roles are reversed but that’s the way I see it. Not sure what prompted The Fine Arts Showcase to cover songs by The Rough Bunnies but he’s done it. The Fine Arts Showcase is Gustaf Kjellvander.
I’m guessing in part the idea was to put some production behind songs he’s known and loved by The Rough Bunnies. The original songs are rough, immature, poorly produced, and lovely, life affirming, lofi indie pop. I think they should have be left well enough alone. Decide for yourself. The album will be out in May on Adrian Recordings.
