The Guy You Talk With

The Rising Storm brings it with spacy swedish rock from 1972 from Algarnas Tradgard.

Muzorama has news of the American release of The Chrysler’s 2nd record Cold War Classic. Here’s:

First Blood

Obtusity has the video for the song “First Class Riot” from The Tough Alliance.

The incomparable Discobelle has the new single, “Cat Scratch”, from the Swedish band Harlem.

New single from Hello Saferide on UK’s Regal Recordings

Friday, May 4th, 2007

It’s been a kind of quiet week in Sweden…so let’s move over to London where Hello Saferide’s new song was released by Regal Recordings (Lily Allen, BabyShambles). The song, “I Was Definately Made For These times”, is streaming now from the Regal MySpace page. Annika descirbes the song as “both stupid and smart at the same time, in true Motown style.”

I’ve linked to this homemade YouTube video before for “Get Sick Soon” but who knows some of you nameless, faceless horde may have missed it.

Some instrumental funky psychadelia from Sweden (No! Not Dungen!)

Thursday, May 3rd, 2007

So, songs from the new record from Dungen are leaking out. Not sure if the dam is totally washed out or if this is just a drop in the bucket (I don’t do p2p and things like Oink). People I respect like Dungen but I haven’t been blown away by them yet. Also there seems to be this belief that Dungen is the start and the ending point of Swedish instrumental psychadelic music. That’s far from true.

The label site for Differnet Friendly Noise has just released another of it’s mp3 only releases. The band Ved hopes to score horror movies (so get in touch if you’re working on one) but for now he’s release two not so creepy funk songs:

Stratoscope

Liquid Shallows

Tack! Tack! Tack!

Wednesday, May 2nd, 2007

I don’t know much about my readers. But since I’ve started selling the Swedesplease t-shirt I’ve learned a thing or two.

#1. There are people in London who read this site
#2. Most of them are size xl

So, London area residents listen up! Tack! Tack! Tack! is back with Shout Out Louds, Maia Hirasawa and Loney, Dear at the ICA on May 24. Should be fun as always I’m very jealous.

Loney Dear – I Am John
Maia Hirasawa – Still June

Air France cover "Sad Song" by Au Revoir Simone

Tuesday, May 1st, 2007

Air France (here) have covered Au Revoir Simone’s “Sad Song” and rechristened it “Afraid You Told Someone About Us”. In fact the song’s become a duet in their hands and the crooning vocals of Air France, as well as the odd steel drumming and cut and spliced beats, make the song more interesting or at least more exciting than the original. The single is now available at Sincerely Youre records here.
