Sometimes I think fuck it. I should quit Swedesplease. There are so many more music blogs now that cover Swedish music then when I started Swedesplease over three years ago. The minute a label or band releases a new song a handful of blogs have already covered it. But then I get an email, like the one today, wishing me a happy birthday and the wonderful gift of a new song from one of my favorite Swedish bands (here, here, here, here, here).
“Fuck It” is the new song from Ed Greene (myspace). First of all I don’t swear, somehow that’s one of the few traits my parents instilled in me, but I love a good curse in a song. And as you can imagine from the title of this song there’s a bad word or two (in the chorus), but there are also great lines like “I’d never pick a fight cause you’d win it” and “I guess it never mattered now did it”. Simon Edgren is the lead singer and the main force behind the band and when he sings “it probably never mattered so fuck it” you’d have to be dead not to get those little shivers that run up your spine. Despite the coarse title and occasional swear this is a beautiful song.
