The best compliment I can give to a song by a Swedish artist is to post their music on my other music blog Songs:Illinois. To be included on Swedesplease you’ve just got to be Swedish (naturally) and intriguing in some manner. But for Songs:Illinois playing the Swedish card gets you nowhere and intriguing is not good a enough for a blog that is reserved for featuring some of the best songs of our generation.
“To Heal Your Wounds” by Jenny Björkqvist is one such song. It successfully straddles the worlds of indie and folk; the song would be as comfortable hanging out with Nick Drake or Jose Gonzalez as it would be spending time with Dylan or Guthrie. Friend Tim Schmidt contributes vocals as well on this track.
Needless to say this song will be linked to from Songs:Illinois as well from Swedesplease today.
