Originalljudet

Type the words “Swedish band” into a Twitter search and do you know what you come up with? Yep you guessed it: ABBA, multiple references to Swedish death metal, and whoever is the most promoted Swedish indie rock band at the moment (right now it’s Love Is All and Mary Onettes). There’s more to Sweden than these three categories. I don’t write about the outsider music from Sweden as much as I should. I’ll make up for it today by posting a song from the new record by the “melancholic minimalistic instrumental” group Originalljudet.

By combining a ton of influences and a wide assortment of instruments the band is able to traverse multiple genres while never being pegged down to any one. You’ll hear snippets of Jazz, prog rock, Gypsy folk and everything in between. Yopu can buy the band’s debut record here.

“Like Moondog and Satie colliding in space, like a circus wagon praying with a roving brothel or simply like sweet love, endless drunkeness and fumbling kisses with bad breath…”
