I think this came out earlier in the summer. But I didn’t hear about it and I don’t think anyone else wrote about it. Johan Brännström is one of the members of the Swedish band Heart Sick Groans. He’s released a solo record called Mama Get The Hammer. It’s a stripped down affair with aching vocals and fingerpicked acoustic guitars. Johan’s voice is constantly on the brink of cracking and it;s that creaking and scratchy sound that creates the emotion behind these songs. Here’s the first cut off the record.
