Say what you will about Swedesplease but at least give me some credit for being on top of the Swedish indie folk revolution. Like twee in the early oughts, or indie rock in the 90′s, or pop before that; I think that the twenty-teens will be represented by folk based bands like TTMOE, Tim Schmidt, Old Lost John, Johan Brännstöm, and Shotgun language.
John Hawks can be added to that short list. He has just releases an 8 song ep in which he is accompanied on guitar by audible tape hiss. The results are lofi campfiresque recordings. He references the Felice Brothers in one song and that’s something I can’t resist. Pick up the whole thing here via Bandcamp. So here it is:

Say It Ain’t Weird (If I Could Say It Like Them Brothers Felice)
